First Two 1946 Games
Imagine my embarrassment when I realized today that I forgot to post about last week’s game.
As you might recall, I’ve started a project using the Action! PC Football homebrewed 1946 college disk. I’m in control of Notre Dame, who are not independent thanks to the way I’ve got this set up.
Our first game was at home against Michigan — a rarity, since Michigan scarcely played any road games in real life in 1946. I think this is because Michigan had larger stadiums than their opponents; in other words, it was an economic decision.
We won, but just barely.
Bob Chappuis caused us all sorts of problems, and Michigan’s defense left me scrambling for answers.
We managed to win the game in overtime — but it was too close for comfort. They outgained us and outplayed us every way you can think of.
Our second game against Detroit was a bit easier:
We dominated the way I thought we would.
Detroit attempted 14 passes but didn’t complete a single one, which was really surprising. Meanwhile, we gained over 440 yards rushing, which is pretty impressive.
We’re up against Northwestern next week — another undefeated team. We’ll see how this one goes!
