Tournaments In Action PC Football
Action PC Football’s playoff system appears to be severely limited — and I can’t understand why.
I’m interested in potentially creating a 64 team tournament. It doesn’t appear that it’s possible in game, however.
There’s no “tournament mode” in Action PC Football. Instead, there is a playoff mode. Now, you can enter the playoffs before the regular season is completed, though the game will warn you if you try to do this.
However, in the playoff setup itself, you can’t select more than 16 teams:
It also seems that the playoff settings themselves are built into the game. You can have fewer than 16 teams selected for the playoffs; however, the seedings and the brackets are automatically created by the game, based on settings that you cannot change.
There’s no useful information in the user manual:
It’s yet another example of how Action PC Football seems to be tied to only one way of playing the game. The lack of flexibility is concerning to me — and it reminds me of the fatigue issues I wrote about earlier:
It seems that others have figured out ways around this limitation:
Unfortunately, this forum post is extremely vague and does not contain much useful information. Changing the “brackets” setting to 5 does not allow you to insert more than 16 teams.
This post from 2015 seemed promising — but, unfortunately, the pictures have long since been deleted:
And then there’s this post from 2019, which sadly includes very limited information:
According to his website, it appears that the original poster uses some different software setup to track his tournaments. Here’s an example of a double elimination tournament from the same person:
This is a bit more involved than what I was thinking of, but at least it shows me that it is possible.
Do you have an answer? Do you have any ideas?
