The Problem With Football Sims
Every single football sim shares the same problem.
The problem is a pretty simple one: how in the word do you separate the work of the “skilled” players (usually the offensive backs) from the blockers?
How much credit do we give Walter Payton or Barry Sanders for successful runs, and how much credit do we give their blockers?
How much of a successful defensive stand is due to the pass rush, and how much is due to backs successfully covering all eligible receivers?
This is a difficult question to balance, which is why I’m posing it here. What do you think? Is there an easy way to solve this dilemma?
