Leaving Action PC Football
After yet another extremely frustrating game, I’ve decided to leave Action PC Football for the time being.
This happened before, as you might recall. I made this video nearly two years ago, after feeling extremely frustrated with this game:
My point at that time concerned the fatigue system and the game usage penalties. The fatigue system is not explained anywhere in the documentation, and the forums consist mostly of players guessing and giving anecdotal experiences.
However, there are other major problems with this game that I simply cannot overlook, some of which I’ve written about recently:
Quarterbacks run far too often and for far too many yards, even if you choose the quarterback spy option.
The computer manager is allowed to call passing plays that target running backs that are not available to human managers.
The play by play text is simply ridiculous, and is riddled with obvious spelling errors.
The chalkboard system looks like it was created in the mid-1980s.
The game is clunky and slow, reflecting the obvious fact that it was slapped together in Visual Basic over 20 years ago.
Basic game features are broken, such as the automatic scheduler. In fact, even moving teams from one database to another is extremely time consuming and frustrating.
There are simply too many problems here for me to overlook. I can’t stomach playing yet another game where the computer is allowed to gain dozens of yards even when I guess correctly what type of play it will run, and where I wind up running into a brick wall regardless of the offensive play I choose.
The truth is that there are simply better options on the market. And I urge all Action PC Football players to take a look at what else is out there.
We’ll take a look together to see what else is out there. I’m certain that something must exist that is better than the mess that Dave Koch Sports has put out.
I completely agree with you, Daniel... I was with Action PC Football at the very beginning... Very inaccurate as well...
